The brand ORIGENES is an olive processing and product standardization company, based in Sparta of Greece. Above all, they collect the best crop directly from the local producers. Furthermore, they offer to their consumers high quality products.
Target Group: Young consumers (20-40 years old) of olive products, that want for their diet nutritious foods. They have also modern aesthetics & they would give some extra money for foods of good quality.
Brief: Design the basic concept of the brand’s retail line of olive products. In particular some of the products would be: whole olives, pitted olives, sliced olives & olive paste. They wanted in this case, a contemporary design that would differentiate them from the rest of the competition. The design should also be easily incorporated in a variety of labels & packaging solutions.
Design Approach: We decided to create an olive-soldier as the main character of the concept, because Sparta is a town best known for the 300 soldiers of the great ancient hero Leonidas. In particular, we designed different olives-soldiers (black, green & mixed) with all the ancient military equipment on them, such as shields & spears, in different postures with a comic-approach for a more contemporary & playful result. Furthermore, the logo is a hand-written font with ancient Greek aesthetics to accompany smoothly our main olive character. Hand-drawn illustrations of olive oil, herbs, vinegar and other ingredients, that are in the recipes, as small details all over the packaging give a more human feeling in the final result.
